North Shields Metro Station is on the Tyne and Wear Metro Yellow line.
It was formerly the terminus of the now defunct Blue line.
North Shields was also the terminus of the Newcastle & North Shields Railway opened in 1839.
[edit] Ticketing anomalies
Different zonal fare systems are used for Metro single tickets and inter-modal Transfare tickets, which means that for a number of journeys a Transfare may actually be cheaper than a standard Metro-only ticket.
