North Richland Hills is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 55,635 at the 2000 census. In 2006, North Richland Hills was selected as the one of the "Top 100 Best Places to live in America" according to Money magazine.[1]

North Richland Hills most popular attraction for residents and visitors alike is NRH2O Family Water Park. NRH2O features the Green Extreme, the world's tallest and longest uphill water roller coaster. Iron Horse Golf Course is also a favorite among residents and visitors to our community. Since opening in 1989, Iron Horse has been consistently voted among the best municipal golf courses in Texas. This challenging 18-hole Dick Phelps designed course surrounds golfers in a tranquil environment as the course meanders over scenic creeks and traverses under a railroad trestle. (32.855666, -97.218184)According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 18.2 square miles (47.2 km²), of which, 18.2 square miles (47.2 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.16%) is water.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 55,635 people, 20,793 households, and 15,407 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,055.8 people per square mile (1,179.6/km²). There were 21,600 housing units at an average density of 1,186.4/sq mi (458.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 88.48% White, 2.70% African American, 0.54% Native American, 2.65% Asian, 0.17% Pacific Islander, 3.39% from other races, and 2.07% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 9.48% of the population.
There were 20,793 households out of which 38.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.9% were married couples living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.9% were non-families. 20.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the city the population was spread out with 27.2% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 32.6% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 8.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 96.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $56,150, and the median income for a family was $64,718. Males had a median income of $44,548 versus $30,392 for females. The per capita income for the city was $25,516. About 3.1% of families and 4.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.3% of those under age 18 and 7.2% of those age 65 or over.
