From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

North Quincy High School is a public high school located at 316 Hancock Street, Quincy, Massachusetts.[1]

The school colors are red and black and the students are known as the "Red Raiders". The school mascot, "Mr. Yakoo", is a controversial caricature of NQHS alumnus and benefactor Alan Yacubian dressed as a Native American.[2] Yakoo was created by student Peter Fredericksen on November 29, 1957, when Yacubian was also a student.[3]

Some famous alums of North Quincy include:

  • 1994 U.S. Olympic speed skating bronze medalist, Karen Cashman
  • Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Everett P. Pope
  • College Football Hall of Famer and 1985 Heisman Trophy candidate Joe Dudek (Denver Broncos).
