North Madras

North Madras refers to the suburbs in the northern part of Chennai. It consists of residential areas like Washermanpet, Kosapet, Korukkupet, Perambur, George Town, Park Town and the new suburbs of Villivakkam, Korattur, and Anna Nagar. The city's downtown, Parry's Corner is located here, and contains many industries and factories. North Madras is characterised by narrow streets, a low-rise skyline, widespread poverty, dirtier localities, and higher crime rates than South Madras.
