[edit] History
The history of North Kingstown High School dates back as far as 1901, when the entity governing education in Rhode Island approved the curriculum and program of Wickford Academy. The first recorded graduating class of North Kingstown High School was in 1905; in 2005 the school celebrated their 100th anniversary.[1]
The program first began with 3 teachers and less than 20 students. The high school did not have an official home until 1907 when they moved into the newly constructed Wickford Academy, which is now Wickford Elementary School. The original academy building had burned down the prior year.
After being located on the academy campus, the high school moved to the North Kingstown Junior/Senior High School, now Wickford Middle School, in 1932.
In September 2001, a new state of the art school grounds was opened for North Kingstown High School; current student enrollment is now approximately 1,600 students.
