North Hollywood station is the Northernmost stop on the Metro Red line located at Lankershim Blvd. & Chandler Blvd. in North Hollywood, California. This station has an island platform. This station is also the Easternmost stop on the Metro Orange Line transitway and is located across the street from the Red Line station on Lankershim Blvd.
A recent article in the Los Angeles Times credited the North Hollywood extension to reviving interest in that area. Developers are now moving in and beginning to buy and develop lots. While the enhanced interest has delighted the city, some residents and groups are worried that mom-and-pop stores will soon be bought out due to rising rent and developer influence.
Since the 2000 opening of the station, many transit-oriented developments have begun to be constructed adjacent to the station. Notable are NoHo Tower (a 15-story apartment building) across the street from the station, a large complex of apartments near the parking lot of the station, and NoHo Commons, a multi-use complex which will house several floors of apartments above a level of retail. In September 2007, transportation officials approved NoHo Art Wave, the largest "transit-oriented" development in L.A. County history, consisting of a $1.3-billion apartment, retail and high-rise office tower complex totaling more than 1,700,000 square feet (158,000 m²) of development on 15.6 acres.[1]
