North High School (Bakersfield, California)

North High School is a high school located in Bakersfield, California.

In 1952, a new high school was needed in Oildale, California, north of Bakersfield. Originally, North High was to be called North of the River High School as it is located on the north side of the Kern River across from Bakersfield. Bakersfield already had two high schools which were Bakersfield High School and East Bakersfield High School. On March 23, 1952 the North High campus groundbreaking began. Shortly after on September 8th 1953 the school was opened to new students. North High's nickname is the Stars. Its official mascot was Twink but was changed in the 2005-2006 school year to Captain Galaxy.
