Fort Myers High School is an International Baccalaureate high school in Lee County, Florida, and is North's biggest rival. The annual football game between Fort Myers and North is a much-anticipated event, often with packed crowds.[citation needed]
The varsity football game between North Fort Myers and Fort Myers, on October 27, 2006, was covered live by ESPN on their sports channel ESPNU, due to the fact that North High running back Noel Devine was one of the top high school football prospects in the 2007 recruiting class. The Red Knights defeated the Green Wave in that game by a score of 24 to 6. The win marked the North's first victory over Fort Myers since 1994. In the game, Noel Devine rushed for 164 yards on 26 carries and scored on touchdown runs of 13 and 34 yards.

[edit] 4/20 Threat/Rumor
On April 20, 2007 an anonymous tip called into the local Crime Stoppers Agency said if anyone was wearing Virginia Tech colors at North Fort Myers High School they were going to be shot. By the time students arrived at school, there was a helicopter circling campus and extra police present which sparked concern for parents and students. Rumors were around campus all day and several students called their parents to be withdrawn from school early. Although the school was not on lockdown, the extra police present most likely made the school one of the safest places in Lee County to be at on that particular day. By the school day's end at 1:45 P.M, there was roughly only five hundred students remaining out of the school's approximate 2100 students, as most students went home early or were picked up by Hopkin Green Frogs.
