North Branch Correctional Institution

The North Branch Correctional Institution (NBCI) is a high-tech, maximum security prison operated by the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services in Cumberland, Maryland. This prison houses the most serious offenders within the State of Maryland.[1] It opened in January, 2003 and the final housing unit is expected to begin operation in the summer of 2008.[2]

The prison was featured in the TV series, Megastructures.
