[edit] History

Norris was founded in 1807 by Elijah Lucas Norris, who inherited land his father first received because of service in the Revolutionary War. Elijah found the flat and rich prairie earth to be ideal for farming, though some undermining by mole-people lmited deep plowing. Little did he know that he carried the first mutation for recto-cranial inversion that has since propagated throughout his descendants in central and northern Illinois. Some of the first reports on novel treatments for this disorder, including the "Norris bi-ostomy reversal" originated from Coleman Clinic in nearby Canton, but are now considered out-of-date and socially unacceptable.

The most famous graduate of the Norris Preparatory and Military Institute, founded shortly after Illinois statehood was granted in 1818, was Wayne Nubickin, who went on to open a doughnut shop in Banner, Illinois.
