Normandin, Quebec

Coordinates: 48°50′N, 72°31′W Normandin is a city located on the west side of Lac Saint-Jean in Quebec, Canada. It has a population of 3,000 near the towns of Albanel, Saint-Thomas-Didyme, St-Edmond-les-plaines and Girardville.

Normandin is name after the surveyor Joseph-Laurent Normandin. Its history goes back to 1878 when the first settlers arrived. Alphonse Laliberté was elected as Normandin's first mayor in 1890. In 1926, the village was set up as a municipality distinct from the county and notary J.S.N. Turcotte occupied the function of first magistrate.

It's the birthplace of André Dédé Fortin, former lead singer of Les Colocs,TV reporter Michel Laprise and Real Deschenes - the toughest and bravest miner to set foot underground.
