Norman Adsetts
Born 1931

Sir (William) Norman Adsetts, Knight Bachelor 1999, born 1931-04-06, was educated in Sheffield. He transformed SIG plc, which he joined in 1966 and ran as Managing Director from 1970 to 1996, from a small family firm to the biggest distributor of insulating materials in Europe,[1] with pre-tax profits in 2006 of over £100m on £1.9bn of sales.[2]

Adsetts was born in 1931. His father was Ernest Norman Adsetts, a businessman based in Sheffield.

He was educated at King Edward VII School in Sheffield (photo), where he was Head Prefect in 1949/1950, and at The Queen's College, Oxford, where he obtained an MA(Hons) in PPE (philosophy, politics and economics), and captained the University Lacrosse team.

He married Eve Stefanuti in 1956 and they have one daughter and one son. He also has 8 Grand children.
