Norfolk Senior Cup

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Norfolk Senior Cup is a football cup competition for clubs in the county of Norfolk in England who compete in the Eastern Counties League and the Premier Division and Division 1 of the Anglian Combination.

If a club has a first team in the Eastern Counties league and a reserve side in the Premier Division or Division 1 of the Anglian Combination, then only the first team from the Eastern Counties is allowed to compete in the competition.

[edit] Format

The competition generally has 7 knockout rounds, however the format of each round can be subject to change and can be different from one season to the next. This largely depends on what clubs in the Eastern Counties and top 2 Anglian Combination divisions at the start of the season.

This is a single-elimination knockout competition in which initially a single match is used to decide a tie. The winner of this match progresses to the next round however if the sides are drawn after 90 minutes, 30 minutes of extra-time is used to decide a winner. If there is still no winner, a replay is held with the away team in the first game hosting the replay. If there is no winner after 90 minutes, 30 minutes of extra-time is played again. If a winner is still not found, a penalty shoot-out is used to decide the winner. The final is a one-off match with extra-time and then penalties deciding a winner with no replay.

The clubs from the Eastern Counties League and Anglian Combination Premier Division receive a bye to round 3 of the 7 rounds in the competition.

The final is hosted at Carrow Road, home of Norwich City.
