Nordischer Klang (English: Nordic Sound) is a major festival of Scandinavian culture in Germany and a platform for artists from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden to introduce themselves to the German public. The festival takes place in the north German city of Greifswald every year.
A wide range of activities, e.g. about Scandinavian films, theatre, literature and music, as well as academic presentations, art exhibitions and live performances take place at Nordischer Klang, which is the largest annual festival of Nordic culture outside of the Nordic countries.
The 16th annual festival in 2007 was under the aegis of Harald Ringstorff (Minister President of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) and the Minister of Culture of Denmark.
The 17th festival will take place from the 2nd to the 9th of May 2008 in Greifswald unter the aegis of Thorgerdur Katrín Gunnarsdóttir (Minister of Culture of Iceland). Among the performing guests will be the Scandinavian Jazz stars Viktoria Tolstoy and LaGaylia Frazier.
Nordischer Klang is organised by a group of people loosely associated with the Department of Nordic Studies at the University of Greifswald.
