Norddal is a municipality in the county of Møre og Romsdal, Norway.
Norddal was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Sunnylven was separated from Norddal the fall 1838.

The Norse form of the name was just Dalr, identical with the word dalr m 'valley, dale'. The first element Nord- 'northern' was added around 1600.
Until 1918 the name was written Norddalen.
