[edit] Background & early life
Nora Eddington was the daughter of Jack Eddington of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's office.[1]
[edit] Private life
She was only eighteen years old when she first met Errol Flynn in February 1943[2] – at the time, she was working at the courthouse where Flynn's notorious 1943 trial for statutory rape took place. Flynn was acquited (found Not Guilty) and they were married in 1944 in Mexico.[3] Their daughter, Deirdre, was born 10 January 1945.[3] By the time that their last child and second daughter, Rory, was born in March 1947, their marriage was already essentially already over.[4] The couple were divorced in 1949, but parted on fairly amicable terms.[4][5] Shortly afterwards, she married Dick Haymes,[5] on 17 July 1949. She wrote a book about her life with Flynn, titled Errol and Me, published in 1960. Her second marriage to Dick Haymes, lasted four years. After divorcing Haymes, she subsequently married Richard Black, a marriage that lasted for the rest of her life – they had a son named Kevin, who died from Leukemia aged 10 years.
