[edit] Rearing cattle

Hi Nopetro.

I've just reverted your last change on the Cattle page ("rear") to one of your earlier ones. As it was it pointed to "rear" in all sorts of senses other than what you seemed to be after.

I think what you were trying to do was point to an article about cattle rearing, which you did at first, but then found there was no such article so tried other things. My feeling is that it's better to point to a not-yet-written article than to a wrong one, so I've put it back to that. With luck someone (perhaps you or me...?) will write one.

I wonder if you realise that you can experiment quite a bit before publishing a final edit to a page? If you click on Preview after editing, the page which you see is fully "working", with live links -- you can try out links from it by right-clicking on the link then choosing "open in new window" (without losing your edits). Alternatively search for a new link from another Wikipedia window altogether. This avoids making many small public edits in quick succession, and allows you to check for mistakes in links, and of course formatting as well.

Really, rear(ing) appears in wiktionary. The doubt is : does cattle rearing includes only the cattle (cow) rearing or all animal rearing ?. This can be solved by the article. --Nopetro 09:34, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your creation of Drawbar

I think you are making an error creating this as a redirect to Ballast tractor. Drawbars occur in many guises, and the ballast tractor is not unique in having one. Fiddle Faddle 11:25, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

It´s a page where the user can SEE a drawbar. If no, I cannot image a drawbar in a tractor and in any one else place. In any case, you can create a full article deleting the redirection. I hope see it, with a drawbar definition, types, safety issues and so on.  ;-)--Nopetro 11:31, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
On that basis you can create any article and redirect it to any other article. I am not about to create an article on a drawbar. Fiddle Faddle 11:59, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
There is a wiktionary definition, without images. I image you can complain there if I put a photo with a ballast tractor. --Nopetro 12:08, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Please do not take these comments personally. If what you show is the drawbar in the picture you choose to place in Wiktionary then it is valid. Meanwhile I have nominated Drawbar for speedy deletion since it is not a valid redirect. Fiddle Faddle 12:30, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Read this: I am not going to put the image in Wiktionary. --Nopetro 16:57, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
I don't mind whether you do or you do not. All that is important is to do things correctly. It appears that the admins who understand these things far better than I do agreed with the nomination for deletion of the redirect page. Please do not use incivility in your interactions with other editors. I object to the "read this:" remark and the "you can always complain" remark. We are all here to improve the articles, and incivility and fights are simply a shame. Fiddle Faddle 17:12, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
Incivic is propose a page for "speedy " deletion when one is discussing about it. It could be deleted only when some consensus have been reached, after the people deciede. More people are interested about a drawbar article and included links to it in :

Other possiblity is include some information (i.e. a section) about drawbar in a higher level (= more generic) article and redirect.

--Nopetro 17:35, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

You've really answered the entire thing here. The list of articles making reference to an article on a drawbar is precisely nothing to do with a ballast tractor. This means that a page that redirected those links to Ballast tractor was completely misleading, and that page had to go. I do not have the knowledge, or I would have written an article about drawbars. This is why I put a message here about the article in the first place - to get you, who i assumed had that interest and presumably some knowledge since you created the incorrect redirect to creat e at least a stub of a good article.
What is required is a real article about drawbars, not a simplistic and incorrect redirect.
If you think it is important, and you have the knowledge, then please write the real article. You could also request that the article be written through the formal process to request articles. If you do not know what that process is, place {{helpme}} on this page with your request for assistance. Fiddle Faddle 15:35, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
If you look at Drawbar now, you will see what ought to have been done. I have had some time to do it. You will notice that there are two other types of drawbar (at least) in addition to that in transportation. The list of articles you gave is a list of articles divided between music and haulage. The third type is an engineering tool accessory. This diversity makes it even more important not to create a simple redirect page, especially to a 90% irrelevant article, and to research properly what you are about to do before doing it. Fiddle Faddle 10:32, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Good work!. I didn´t know how to do it. Regards. Nopetro 22:30, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Never let "not knowing" stand in your way. Ask someone. If you are really unsure there is also a mentoring program (I am not part of it), or just use {{helpme}} on this page and ask your question beneath it. There is always someone who will help you. Fiddle Faddle 22:40, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
OK. Thank you a lot. Nopetro 22:41, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 25,000 legislators

Hi, the figure of 25,000 legislators is being challenged and I traced it back to this diff. Can you please provide a url or other source? Thanks, Sarsaparilla (talk) 02:17, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

You can see the 25,000 democratic legislators´ reference in multiple resources, as :

[edit] Twenga?

Twenga doesn't seem to be related to Shopping.com. It'a a completely different company. --Versageek 07:27, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

I saw the external link in shopping.com and I thought Twenga was part of Shopping.com. The best is create a new article. Regards. --Nopetro (talk) 07:48, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] External links

Thanks for all the work you've put in on adding HSW links to external links sections. But may I point out that if you add a * just before the template, it will be formatted as another bullet in the list, which looks a lot better. Thanks, Technobadger (talk) 09:37, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I have seen it and I do it when there are more than one HSW link. Thank you. --Nopetro (talk) 13:39, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
