Noorderkwartier

Noorderkwartier (a Dutch word meaning "North Quarter") is an historical term referring to the part of Holland north of the river IJ. It roughly correspondends to the modern province of North Holland. Other historical terms for this area were "North Holland", "Noordeland", "Noorderland" and "Waterland".[1]
