Nolan Karras

Nolan E. Karras (born December 30, 1944 in Ogden, Utah) is a politician from the state of Utah.

Karras earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Weber State College and later an MBA from the University of Utah in 1970.

He served as a member of the Utah House of Representatives from 1981 to 1990, holding the office of Speaker of the House from 1989 to 1990.

Karras is a member and past Chairman of the Utah State Board of Regents.

He ran for Governor of Utah in 2004 but was defeated by Jon Huntsman, Jr. in the Utah Republican Party primary election. Enid Greene was his running mate.

Karras is a member of the Board of Directors of Scottish Power, the corporation that operates in Utah as Rocky Mountain Power.

Karras is a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). He is married to Linda Karras and they have 3 children (Brett, Jodi, and Darrin) and several grandchildren.
