[edit] Image Tagging Image:Persepolisfc97small.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Persepolisfc97small.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Pak21 13:55, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Parvin.jpeg

Thanks for uploading Image:Parvin.jpeg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 23:09, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. [edit] Iran Football

Thank you. You are as well doing a great job on Iran football pages. Cheers. Siba 13:28, 01 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi! I've seen you've just erased words "Signed" & "Transferred" from the squad changes for Persepolis and Esteghlal. Wouldn't it be better to keep them? In order to know if it was a transfer, a loan, a return, a free agent,... Other similar pages have this structure and I think it's useful. Just to keep all pages the same. By the way I shall later retouch Esteghlal squad according to IPL cause there is some data missing. --Arinsau 09:52, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Names in Farsi

Hi, Nokhodi.
Can you write us here the original (persian/farsi/parsi) names of:

  • the Iranian stadiums and
  • Iranian football competitions?

Well, I mean, transcripted in latin letters :)) (but form in arabic letters is welcomed, too).
Do really Azadi is "Azadi Stadium" or is something like, "Azadi Stadioni"? Also, do Iranians call their top football league "Iran's Premier League? or something like "Irani Premijer Liga"?
Just as we call French stadiums here with French names ("Stade..."), Portuguese stadiums are "Éstadio...", Spanish stadiums are "Estadio...", Iranian stadiums are... ? Kubura 09:48, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello Kubura. Could you give me a example of a article so I can see clearly what you mean. I can explain for stadiums though. Azadi Stadium for example would be pronounced "Estadiume Azadi" in Persian. Iran's Premier League football would be called, "Lige Bartare Footballe Iran". Send me another message, if I didn't explain clearly. Nokhodi 22:30, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello, Nokhodi.

Thanks for your help. Excellent work! That was what I needed.

I was translating Iranian football data on Croatian wikipedia, but somehow it seemed strange to me that Iranian stadiums have names like "Azadi Stadium", "Shahid Dastgerdi Stadium","Enghelab Stadium"... All of them "Stadium"? I wondered if there's a Persian/Parsi name for the word "stadium". Do all Iranian stadiums have name forms like "Estadiume Azadi", "Estadiume Enghelab", "Estadiume Shahid Dastgerdi"...?

Also, I couldn't believe that Iranian football competitions have English names, names like "Iran's Premier Football League" or "Azadegan League", Iran Football's First Division, Iran Football's Second Division... I simply couldn't believe that English words in names are in use.
I see now that Azadegan League should be something like... "Azadegan Lige", am I wright?

Also, if you need help about Croatian football, Croatian coaches (especially about those that worked in Iran), I'll be glad to help you. Thanks, Kubura 09:10, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Enghelab Stadium (Karaj) and Shiroudi Stadium

Hello, do you know how to get rid of the Enghelab stadium redirect to Shiroudi Stadium. This is a mistake as the stadiums are completely different and in diffrerent cities. Shiroudi stadium should be redirected to Shahid Shiroudi stadium, which is just another variation of it's name. I am only asking because I saw you were the last person to edit the page. Thanks.

Nokhodi 18:00, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Can you please link to what articles you're referring to, exactly? I am kind of confused. Better yet, just fix whatever... most likely I was trying to fix bad redirects or something. Thanks. --W.marsh 18:04, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 1991-1992 Azadegan Legaue

Remmeber how we get the info about Iran Football's 2nd Division we got the info from this website http://axlor.persianblog.com/ , I just send the e-mail for the owner of the site and asked him if he has the table for 1991 to 1995 azadgean league and he send me some tables, I'll try to get the takht jamshid tables also.

I think there is alot of problems in Iranian football pages, for example nobody still knows why Esteghlal FC palyed in 3rd divison in 1994, or we have to make another article for Shahid Ghandi, Shahid ghandi and Tarbiat Badani must have seperate articles like Esteghlal Rasht and Pegah Gilan and still we dont have article about famous club Shahin. WikiProject about Iranian soccer might help. Joojoo 12:03, 14 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] We're no Angels

OK, we can keep both links for now. Are you planning on making an article for that movie? It is kind of silly to "see also" a non-existent article. Is it a notable movie? I've never heard of it. The Behnam 04:56, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Since you never responded to this query I am removing the dead link again. The Behnam 05:06, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Re-add the link after you make an article for that movie. I don't understand why you insist upon including a dead link under the "see also" section. See what? That section is for pointing towards related WP articles, not a literal 'see also', as is "go watch". Thanks. The Behnam 05:20, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:(irn)Perspolis Tehran.png

Thanks for uploading Image:(irn)Perspolis Tehran.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:(irn)Perspolis Tehran.png

Thanks for uploading Image:(irn)Perspolis Tehran.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:42, 16 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading Image:AbuMfc.png.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:15, 16 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Araratfcnew.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Araratfcnew.jpg.

Thank you.

Thanks for uploading Image:Jj3logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Ipl200.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ipl200.png. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:45, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Saipanewlogo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Saipanewlogo.jpg.

If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:23, 10 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaK 10:23, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Azadegan League 2006/07

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Azadegan League 2006/07, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.globalguide.org/index.html?title=Azadegan_League_2006/07&PHPSESSID=e112df6f14a02ef23e2dfcba46e81456. This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. [edit] A translation

Hi, Nokhodi.
Would you, please, translate the article about Croatian writer Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić (her works are mostly literature for children) in Parsi?
Recently, her work The Marvellous Adventures and Misadventures of Hlapić the Apprentice was translated in Parsi by Achtar Etemadi, and printed in Tehran in 2005.
Here's some info about that [2] (in Croatian and in Esperanto, just type Ctrl+F and "perzijsk" or "persan").
Here're the photos of the Parsi edition that book [3] and [4].
Thanks in advance, Kubura (talk) 10:53, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Letter "ž" in her surname is pronounced the same way as "j" in Ahmadinejad (I've heard the original Parsi speaker, it's not "dzh", but more like "zh") :))) . Kubura (talk) 10:58, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

OK, no hurry. School and exams must be in the first place. Kubura (talk) 08:18, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks a lot.
Don't hesitate to ask me, if you want some help. Kubura (talk) 15:00, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] On Santouri

Dear Nokhodi (what a name to address someone with!), as you may have noticed, I have seen the entry initiated by you concerning Santouri. Firstly, it is a very nice entry. Congratulations! Secondly, I saw the film last week and found its English subtitles appalling, as appalling as the English subtitles of all other Iranian films that I have seen thus far. On this issue, sometimes ago I wrote a letter to Farabi Cinema Foundation, the text of which you could read here: [5]. To this date (i.e. 17 February 2008) this letter has remained unanswered, leaving me embittered by the fact that a body funded by public money, as Farabi Cinema Foundation certainly is, does not feel responsible even to acknowledge a letter by members of the public in regard to an issue about which they are to be accountable. Be it as it may, I have also informed Leila Hatami and Ali Mosaffa on this problem, through Entracte Film Club in Tehran, but again with the exception of once a week receiving their weekly programmes in my e-mail box, this has led to no direct response (I live permanently outside Iran). Later I wrote to the Editor of TehranAvenue, offering to write a comprehensive piece for TehranAvenue on this problem of the English subtitles of the films coming out of Iran. Needless to say, thus far I have similarly received no response from this Editor on my offer — and all these should be viewed from the perspective that Iranians are almost without exception proud of their millennia-old Persian civilisation; it does not seem too far-fetched to expect that a civilised person should at the very least acknowledge the receipt of letters she or he receives (please do not misconstrue my words, as I am Iranian myself). Any way, I had considered to add a section to in particular the entry on Santouri, with the title English Subtitles, in which to bring up the point with regard to the substandard English subtitles of this film. However, given the fact that this film has already been so badly treated by the authorities in Iran, I felt that I should not be heaping more problems on it by publicly criticising its English subtitles. Instead, I have decided to write to you and request you kindly to bring this endemic problem to the attention of those who may be responsible for these and similar "subtitles" (from the details in your entry on Santouri, I gather that you are very likely in contact with persons who might know the people in charge). I suffice here by saying that a large part of the English subtitles of the latter film has absolutely no bearing on the Farsi dialogues/voice-overs of the film. The translations of the texts of the songs are also beneath contempt. It seems to me that the person or persons who have made these subtitles must be utterly insensitive to language, both as regards Farsi and English; they must be just hacks, or mercenaries, doing this job solely for money. With kind regards, --BF 14:48, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Dear Nokhodi, thank you for your kind response. You seem to know not more than I do. However, I suspect that the situation is as follows: someone, a businessman, buys the rights to distribute a particular film, let us say in the English-speaking countries. This person subsequently does what s/he feels right for selling this film in the countries for which s/he has obtained the distribution rights, investing not more than absolutely necessary for making the maximum amount of profits out of her/his capital investment (as you may be aware, high-quality translations are very extensive — people doing this kind of work must know not only the both languages, but also the canonical literatures of these languages — recently I noticed that one of Hatamikia's films has been given the English title "The Scent of Joseph's Shirt"; one needs only to know the English translation of the Bible to realise that "shirt" makes no sense in this context; it must be "Coat"; so, you see that knowing solely that Pirahan = Shirt is not sufficient for making a literary translation; the title "The Scent of Joseph's Shirt" not only sounds strange in the ears of an English-speaking person, it is simply illiterate and laughable!). My fear is that for one reason or other the directors (in this case Mehrjoui) do not retain any rights to demand a minimum level of quality concerning the English subtitles before the films are released in the countries for which the distribution rights have been sold. This is why I am aware of no Iranian film with a reasonably good quality of English subtitles. You write about the work of the bootleggers. That may apply in this particular case, however, if you look at the consumer comments on Amazon.com, almost all of customers complain about the substandard qualities of the English subtitles. Here is the address to Amazon.com concerning Leila: [6]. Evidently, Amazon.com is not dealing in bootlegged products. This is shameful! The film Leila, in particular, consists for more than half of voice-overs, so that with the appalling quality of the English subtitles of this film (about which I wrote relatively extensively in my letter to Farabi Cinema Foundation) it is absolutely no surprise that this masterpiece is known only to a small number of people in the West (about this film I have read almost all extant English reviews, and my impression is that almost none of the critics has understood the film correctly, and I believe that this is directly attributable to the substandard quality of the English subtitles of this film). Any way, since I know virtually no one in Iran, may I hereby request you kindly to raise this issue at any possible occasion? Who knows, perhaps one of the people who hears you is the right person for resolving this urgent problem. Kind regards, --BF 22:38, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Mes Kerman New.png

Thank you for uploading Image:Mes Kerman New.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:53, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] On Takam-Chi

Dear Nokhodi, firstly Happy Nawruz. Secondly, I have now made three entries on Takam, Takam-Chi and Sāyā. Just came to my mind that you might like to repeat your excellent work on Santouri and at least initiate an entry on the flim Takam-Chi, directed by Yadollah Samadi, to which I refer in the entry on Takam-Chi. Kind regards, --BF 18:11, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind response. Perhaps I initiate the entry myself (already today, after completing the entry on Bagh-e Ferdows on which I am working right now), but please kindly keep an eye on the entry when you happen to see the film. It is a lovely film, and having seen it, I am deeply ashamed by the way many people from Tehran make fun of the people with Azari accent. Briefly, it is the story of a young and charming woman from Ardebil studying and working in Tehran. When her father unexpectedly comes to visit her, suddenly she finds herself deeply embarrassed by her father, specifically when the latter keeps speaking to her in Azari in public. The matters get worst, when it turns out that the father also plans to work as a Takam-Chi in a coffee shop owned by a relative from Ardebil, who has already settled in Tehran, during his stay in Tehran. Kind regards, --BF 01:01, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Dear Nokhodi, I hope that by now you have seen the film Takam-Chi. The entry on Bagh-e Ferdows is now more or less ready. If you wish, you could now consider to write a separate entry on the film Bagh-e Ferdows, 5 O'Clock in the afternoon. --BF 05:40, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Dear Nokhodi, I have now created a short entry on Takam-Chi (film). I leave the rest to your able hands. Kind regards, --BF 21:32, 23 March 2008 (UTC).
Dear Nokhodi Jan, I am sorry to hear that. In the meantime, they have tagged the entry, created by me, concerning Takam-Chi (film) for deletion! Utter madness! If you wish, you could add your voice on the appropriate page that they have opened on Takam-Chi (film). Kind regards, --BF 00:45, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] On Bagh (word)

Dear Nokhodi, you might like to participate in the discussion initiated here: [7]. Kind regards, --BF 01:20, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Arabian Gulf

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you may want to do. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. The name of the team is the "Arabian Gulf Rugby Union Team" - that's what they call themselves. I also use the term "the Gulf" rather than Persian Gulf or Arabian Gulf in the article, to stop people politicising it.--MacRusgail (talk) 14:02, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Amfciran.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Amfciran.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

[edit] On The Night Bus

Dear Nokhodi, you may wish to consider to add this poster [8] to the above-mentioned entry. I ask you this because you have already some experience with the copy-rights of film posters, as demonstrated in the case of Santouri's poster: [9]. I could have uploaded the image myself, however should it get tagged for deletion, I do not know how to respond. Kind regards, --BF 17:59, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
