Nohar is located at 29.18° N 74.77° E[1]. It has an average elevation of 186 metres (610 feet). The village of Birkali is located in Nohar Tehsil. Nohar is known for it's history, old hawelies n poets.

As of 2001 India census[2], Nohar had a population of 42,302. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Nohar has an average literacy rate of 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 52%. In Nohar, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Bagri, a dialect of Rajasthani language, is spoken by majority of population. Besides, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu are also in use in this tehsil.]][3],

The famous Gogamadi temple also in Nohar tehsil. Lakhs of pilgrims come to this pilgrimage of Gogamedi n Gorakh-Tila. Surya Bhavan temple is very old and famous temple. Recently made Baba Shyam Mandir is an exaple of good architecture. Nearby Mataji temple in Pallu has strong faith of resident of nohar and nearby. Gurudwara is very old and very famous.
