The Play 'The Goose Maiden' by John Frannis was first seen at the Caird Theatre in Cardiff in 1994. It relates to a lost cottage in rural mid Wales where an older man has a young woman as a prisoner. She has not known anything else and is generally well treated. They live a life together of Master and mistress. They have two books from which they read. She can only read LORNA DOONE, he reads IVANHOE. Not to take away the dramatic ending of the play, but the Goose Maiden, Lizzie, escapes and when found can only quote the exact words of LORNA DOONE. To my knowledge the play was performed in the Norwegian Arts Centre in Cardiff Bay also amongst others. The Song and amateur video of the Goose Maiden is on YOU TUBE.
