[edit] Your contribution to Characters of The Big O

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for showing an interest in The Big O. You might want to check out the article for Megadeus. The Characters of The Big O article only covers the "human-sized" characters, while the Megadeus article covers the giant robots. (Don't ask me why, 'cause I don't know. I didn't write them)

What I'm trying to say is, your section on The Big O would work better on that other article.--Nohansen 16:32, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Bigo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Bigo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:46, 27 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. User:Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr) 02:46, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Big O References

Placing a message saying "don't tamper with the article" on the article will do nothing; WP:OWN applies here (you can't "freeze" a version of an article that you think is correct or that you're working on in stints.).

Also, please read WP:OR, the policy on original research. If this commentary didn't come from a reliable source, it's original research and will probably be deleted. ColourBurst 03:58, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Actually, another editor already created an article with the same purpose: List of allusions in The Big O. Feel free to edit that one. The Big O References now directs to said article. Also, the comparisons to Batman are already covered in the influences section of the main article. However, if you know of any other reference in the series (which I know are a lot) add them. Just remember to source it first.--Nohansen 04:59, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A few pointers

When you add something to an article, you first have an article where it says the same thing. Let me explain: In The Big O article, I wrote the Giant Robo OVA influenced Big O. While this is inherent knowledge to me, I had to look for an article that made the same comparison. If I didn't, another editor would classify as original research and that's not allowed here.

At the end of the sentence where you make such a comparison, or write anything that could be constituted as your own inference or analysis, you have to add a footnote to the article that shares that same view. It looks something like this:

Just make the necessary changes. (url, title, ec.)

When you upload an image, there's a need to have a detailed summary of the image. It looks like this:

== Summary == An aerial shot of Paradigm City; A screenshot from Act:23 of The Big O. The Big O is owned by Cartoon Network, Sunrise, and Bandai Visual. == Licensing == tv-screenshot ==Fair use in The Big O== *Low quality screenshot; *Single image; *Serves to illustrate the setting of the series *Does not infringe on the owner's ability to make a profit.

Just paste that in the summary box of the images you upload, and you'll be fine. Just make the necessary changes first. Just so you know, your "Big O in punching stance" was deleted because it lacked the fair use rationale. Try uploading it again using that summary style.

Oh, and don't worry about being new. I'm still relatively new, just started in October, and all my edits have been to The Big O article and related sub-articles.--Nohansen 14:27, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Bigo.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Bigo.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:AlanGabriel10.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:AlanGabriel10.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. In certain limited cases, we may be able to use an image under a claim of fair use - if you are certain that fair use would apply here, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list. If no fair use rationale applies, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.
