And unto us all sayeth Node: «I am a sentient stove. Is not thy counterproof forthcoming?». And Node saw that it was not forthcoming. --Book of Node, Sentient Stoves 1:11
Here I'll document the paradoc of the Sentient Stove and the Unbeliever.
The basis for this parable is an heated argument which happen in #wikipedia on irc.freenode.org.
1Mark Andrew Williamson, the great Node of UE, was on one fine night bathing in the moonlight whit shineth through the great window of His abode. 2Our Node could be found situated in front of His ordinator in an upright position. 3He speaketh with His peers via the most blessed medium of the Internet Relay Chat. 4He speaketh unto us by the most holy Internet Relay Chat networks of Freenode, Phrenzy, &c. 5The discussion strayeth onto the subject of anonimity and The Intarweb. 6Sayeth He unto #wikipedia, «I have viewed the luminance and it is The Internet. 7It offereth anonimity at a level of which previously one could but dream. 8It offereth anonimity even to the degree such that one might make claim to be a sentient stove, and a logical counter-argument will not be forth-coming.» 9What sayeth Node, it alarm'd His peers and they discovered them-selves to be in a state of dis-comfort. 10So unto him they spake thusly, "Im-possible is such. There be not such a thing as a sentient stove but in lore." 11And unto us all sayeth Node: «I am a sentient stove. Is not thy counter-proof forthcoming?» 12And Node saw that it was indeed not forthcoming. 13In Bostra Gràtzia tennemus sa fiditzia nostra.
Of course, that's extremely biased towards my POV and a bit the exaggerate, but you get the point. Thus the paradoc: can prove conclusively that I am *not* a sentient stove, or not? Can not.
