The Noble M400 is a car from the British car maker Noble. It is known for its handling and speed. It has a max power of 425 bhp (317 kW) at 6500 rpm, with a torque figure of 390 ft·lbf (530 N·m) at 5000 rpm. It is noted by an impressive power to weight ratio of 401 bhp/ton (hence the name M400) and a 0 - 60 mph (97 km/h) of 3.5 seconds. The UK auto TV show Vroom Vroom said that the M400 gave Ferrari Enzo performance at Porsche 911 price.
Manufacturing was outsourced to Hi Tech Automotive, [1][2] based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The body panels are fibreglass.
The mid-mounted, transverse, 2968 cc V6 (the Ford Duratec engine also used in the Ford Mondeo), twin turbocharged dohc, 4 valves per cylinder has rear wheel drive benefiting from high-lift camshafts, larger turbochargers and revised fuel injection all contribute to give a top speed of 185 mph (298 km/h).
The engine can pull strongly up to its 7200 rpm limiter. Noble has used forged pistons, an oil cooler, a larger baffled oil sump and extra cooling ducts to maintain its durability. The car has an all-new gearshift, which moves through a quicker and more precise gait.
Noble is no longer manufacturing the M400. The exclusive dealer for Noble in the US, 1G Racing from Ohio, has obtained the production rights to the M400 from Noble Automotive, and is expected to release an updated version named Rossion Q1. 1G's version of the M400 includes a redesigned aerodynamic shell, a new interior and an upgraded engine management system (uprating it to 450 bhp).[3]
The M400 is featured in the Project Gotham Racing 3 racing game for the Xbox 360. It may also be obtained through downloadable content in the game Test Drive Unlimited for the Xbox 360 and PC.
