Noah D. Taylor

Noah D. Taylor (born 1982 in Columbus, Ohio) is a contemporary American composer.

Noah D. Taylor’s work encompasses orchestral music, symphonic band music, chamber music, jazz and songs. His works have been featured at the College Band Directors National Association Convention and at Universities nation-wide. His Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra has been performed nationally with continued engagements with soloist, Brenton Dunnington. He was recently named 1st prize winner of the 2005 Metropolitan Student Commission Competition and has been commissioned to write a new work for the group’s 2006-2007 concert season.
Noah D. Taylor is from Columbus, Ohio and earned his Bachelor of Music in composition at the Capital University of Music. There he studied composition and orchestration from Rocky J. Reuter, Barry E. Kopetz, and James Swearingen. While attending Capital University many of Taylor‚s works were performed by his fellow students. Two Pieces for Trombone Choir was premiered at the 2001 International Trombone Association Conference.
Taylor won the composition category of the 2002 Capital University Concerto Competition with Condition Red, which was premiered by the Capital Symphonic Winds. Condition Red has also recently been performed at Kansas State University and Ball State University. In February of 2005, his Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra was premiered by Brenton Dunnington and the Capital University-Bexley Community Orchestra.
Taylor recently graduated with Master‚s degree composition from Bowling Green State University, where he studied with Marilyn Shrude, Burton Beerman, and Elainie Lillios. Taylor recently served as guest The University of Minnesota's Percussion Extravaganza. He is also the winner of the 2005 North American Student Composer Competition, sponsored by the Metropolitan Wind Symphony.
