[edit] Notability
And yet again we have a case of applying mainstream music standards on a band from a subculture. Of course in the genre of hardcore punk very few of the criteria if taken literally mentioned in Wikipedia:Notability (music) can be met for any band in the "alternative" music scene. As i see it though, the criteria must be set within the music genres own standards, especially since the independent music is on the rise and more music listeners turn to other alternatives than what the mainstream music industry has to offer.
My plea for removal of the {notability}-tag based on the criteria from the Wikipedia:Notability (music) is as follows:
Criteria #1: The band has been mentioned with praise in various internet fanzines Terminal Boredom, Cult punk (in connection with a band member playing in another band Death Token, Lowcut #15 which with a couple of exceptions (like the magazine Maximumrocknroll which in its issue #257 had a feature on Danish hardcore that focused on among others this band) must substitute praise in mainstream music magazines because these doesnt write about this genre of music.
Criteria #2-3 & 5, 11: No charts exist for hardcore punk so sold records and eventually sites like Last fm would have to substitute the demands in that direction. Their only album has been reissued on vinyl 3 times and been issued on CD by an American label after the 2nd vinyl reissue. Their collected vinyl singles have just (January 2008) been reissued on a single record by Hjernespind Records.
Criteria #4: The band has been on a great number of tours in most European countries and 2 tours of the US (links for the US tours are supplied in the article, but can also be traced via the many concert announcements on American venues homepages (r5 productions, decoymusic, Line up description of the Pointless Fest 06 tour).
Criteria #6: The member of the band Peter Bonnemann has played in the even more acclaimed bands Gorilla Angreb and Amdi Petersens Arme furthermore he has been the owner of 2 record companies.
Criteria #7: Together with Gorilla Angreb it is safe to say that this band has been the most prominent representative of Danish Hardcore Punk and was catalyst in getting especially the US hardcore punk audience interested in Scandinavian punk (a move that also has benefited Swedish bands like Regulations that released their first album on Peter Bonnemanns label).
Criteria #8: One of their songs was put on the 2006 'Public Safety' compilation that the acclaimed punk magazine Maximumrocknroll released as their take on the best bands in modern punk. The magazine havent released a compilation since 1984, read description of compilation here. This is clearly as close as you will ever get anything resembling awards in the punk scene.
In any way i still dont understand the reasons for applying the notability tag on this article. Is this not simply a case of a user reading about something he/she has no knowledge or interest in? I assure you there are thousands of people internationally that are interested in modern hardcore punk and most of them will know about this band. --Saddhiyama (talk) 17:36, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
