No Transitory

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"No Transitory" was the second single off of Alexisonfire's second album, Watch Out! (2004).
This song is noted for being the band's first single featuring Dallas Green on lead vocals. The song has a heavy intro, but the rest is fairly calm. During the verses, the bass keeps an odd, alternating beat, while the guitars play little riffs over top. The song ends very heavy with George screaming.

[edit] Video information

The music video is shot entirely in black and white and features the band playing in a small room with 3-D looking backgrounds on the wall. George sometimes grabs a light hanging from the ceiling as he screams, while the rest of the band goes crazy (particularly Steele). The video was a big hit on MuchMusic.

[edit] Interesting facts

  • There are many allusions to Shakespeare's Macbeth; in fact, it is arguable that the whole song is about the play:

The line "tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow" is taken from Macbeth's famous soliloquy regarding his wife's death. The last words, "And this knife, this knife." is another allusion which regards to Macbeth's hallucination in the hallway on his way to King Duncan's room. The words "I think this cause is lost." also regards to the play. It is an allusion to Lady Macbeth's mood after the murder of King Duncan.
