[edit] History

The band started out as a bunch of Christian teenagers touring the San Diego scene in the early 90's, often appearing with P.O.D. Each weekend they relentlessly toured making the circuit of the local churches who would allow bands to perform. Some pastors stared in horror at the scene in the front of their sanctuary as Jason Moody would growl and jump around on stage (once making a leap from the baptistry over the drums).

Ignoring the lighter sounds of San Diego bands like Pennywise and Stone Temple Pilots, N.I.V. and P.O.D. would grind out the anthems of teen angst that took them to the level they reside at now. Few bands have stayed more true to the hardcore sounds that started than N.I.V.[citation needed]
