No Confidence Man

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"No Confidence Man" is a song recorded by Elliott Smith for a split with Pete Krebs on Slo-Mo Records in 1994. This was Smith's first solo release. The songs lyrics most likely refer to Smith's stormy relationship during his childhood with stepfather Charlie Welch, as apparent through the song's lyrics: "Charlie got a band in his hand, rubber loop, says I'm the man he wants."[original research?]
