No Alternative is a 1993 alternative rock compilation album released to benefit AIDS organizations. The album features original tracks and cover versions from bands who went on to define the alternative rock scene of the 1990s. It was released with two different cover photos, one of a boy, one of a girl.
A television special hosted by MTV and home video featured live performances, music videos, and information about AIDS for an audience otherwise untargeted by other AIDS organizations.
It was Kurt Cobain's decision for "Verse Chorus Verse" (aka "Sappy") to remain uncredited on No Alternative, for fear of distracting from the other bands on the compilation.
