[edit] Summary

Description

Radio signals transmitted at or below the ionospheric critical frequency will always be reflected back to the Earth, even at vertical incidence. The size of the skip-zone can therefore be decreased to zero by decreasing the radio wave frequency. Notice that this example also shows how signals can be focused, resulting in an area of enhanced signal strength.
