Description

Diagram of British No. 56 Mk IV C Time & Percussion Fuze, as used in the Second Boer War.
It was classed as a "Small T. and P. Fuze of G.S. Gauge".
Mk IV is a misnomer as there were no previous Marks.
The fuze fits a 1 inch "G.S" socket.
Single time ring, maximum burning time 13 seconds.
Listed in 1915 for use with shrapnel shells for the following guns :-

Mk IV* was similar except that it had .35 grains detonating composition for time portion instead of .2 grains.
By 1914 it was long obsolete but stocks still remained. Replaced by Fuzes No. 60, 63, 65.
