No. 4626 Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, (4626 (AE) Sqn) Royal Auxiliary Air Force (RAuxAF),
The mission of 4626 (AE) Sqn is to manage, maintain and train its personnel for operational readiness in support of RAF requirements for Aeromedical Evacuation, in times of conflict or crisis (under the provision of the “Reserve Forces Act 1996”).
It is the only Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron in the RAuxAF. The Sqn comprises: Ground Handling Flights (involved in ground-based patient care) and Aeromedical Flights (qualified to fly with patients).
In peacetime, 4626 (AE) Sqn supports the RAF in the routine air evacuation of military and civilian personnel from many locations around the world. In times of conflict They work closely with the RAF. Currently the Squadron are engaged in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
