No. 42 Wing is a Royal Australian Air Force wing which will be responsible for operating the RAAF's Boeing 737 AEW&C aircraft once they enter service. The wing was first formed during World War II on 1 February 1943 at RAAF Base Townsville where it remained until it was disbanded on 1 October 1944. No. 42 Wing was reformed on 1 January 2006 and is located at RAAF Base Williamtown near Newcastle. It consists of a single flying squadron, No. 2 Squadron.
