[edit] Summary
Photograph by User:Patrick Berry. B-36J S/N 52-2220, #365/385 built, Lot 24, accepted by USAF on Jan 1954. This B-36J was flown to Wright Field (now called Area B, WPAFB) from Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, on April 30, 1959. This was the last flight ever made by a B-36. The museum at the time was at Patterson Field (now called Area C, WPAFB) and had the YB-36/RB-36E S/N 42-13571on display. The B-36J remained in outdoor storage at Wright Field until 1970 when the new Air Force Museum was constructed. The B-36J was placed in the new museum's Air Power Gallery prior to the end walls of the hanger being built. In 2003, when the new Kettering Cold War Gallery was being built, the end wall of the Air Power Gallery was removed and the plane was moved into its new home seen here.
