[edit] Wot's in a name?

I'm a bit confused about the name of these awards: Are they the Nita Kibble Literary Awards, the Nita B Literary Awards, or the Kibble Literary Awards for Women which encompass the Nita (whatever they are called) and the Dobbie Encouragement Award as described at the Perpetual site. I found a listing for Carrie Tiffany which said she'd won the Nita Dobbie Literary Award! I find the naming of awards in general a real challenge!Sterry2607 (talk) 12:20, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

I believe there are two awards. The Dobbie (have to check around for its exact name) is for a first novel. I understand the confusion and will attempt to look into it later this week. I also need to add a page for the Dobbie award. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 00:41, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, thanks muchly for the response. I understand there are two awards : it's what their formal names are that I'm concerned about. Should we use the names as they are called at the Perpetual Site since they are trustees for the Award? If we have a page for each they need to be linked of course - that's probably the best thing to do. As you'll see, in the interim, I put a few Dobbie winners and some info re the Dobbie on this page. Cheers,Sterry2607 (talk) 01:14, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
The more I think about it, the more I come to the view that leaving the two awards connected on the same page is probably the best approach. --Perry Middlemiss (talk) 06:31, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Perry for getting back. I'm not averse to that but would like to get the naming right - is there one name for the pair of awards (which should be the title/name of the article if we are going ot keep them together) and then two different names for the specific awards eg are they the Nita Kibble Literary Awards or the Kibble Literary Awards or another variation on the theme, and then the one in her name is the Nita B Kibble Literary Award and the other the Dobbie Encouragement Award? My only concern about leaving them together is how long the article will get if we keep including shortlisted titles as well as winners - over time it will get quite long? I'm not sure how Wiki people views this. Anyhow, this issue doesn't bother me too much - it's more getting the naming right. Sterry2607 (talk) 07:11, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
This article in the Courier-Mail (http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,23655510-5003424,00.html) lists the award as the Dobbie Encouragement Award. So I guess that one's okay. As to the size of the page I suggest we leave it a while until it gets unweildy. Maybe after next year, or the year after. --Perry Middlemiss (talk) 07:20, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Fair enough - I'm happy with all of that.Thanks, Sterry2607 (talk) 08:44, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
