Founded by The 7th Dzogchen Pönlop, Rinpoche and advised by Khenchen Tsultrim Gyamtso, Rinpoche (each among the most prominent scholars and educators of Tibetan studies of their generation), Nitartha international is a New York educational corporation created by authority of the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York operating in compliance with laws and guidelines of the New York Board of Regents.

With a vision statement of "Ancient Wisdom for the Modern Mind", Nitartha was established with the intention of preserving rare texts and art from Asia, with a concentration on Tibet works. (It works with Tibetan texts using modern computer technology.) Its aim is not only archiving these treasures but thereby to extend the living wisdom traditions they embody to the global community as a great source of ancient wisdom that is relevant and beneficial for the modern mind.

Nitartha also provides management and technical support and guidance for the Nitartha international Document Input Center, its sister organization in Kathmandu, Nepal.
