[edit] Career
Nita Talbot is a durable leading lady that spent the first decade or so of her career playing "slick chicks" and sharp-witted career girls and is mostly known for her role as the Russian spy in the 1960s sitcom, Hogan's Heroes, as well as Sheila Fine in the evening soap opera, Soap, and as the voice for Anastasia Hardy, the businesswoman mother of Felicia Hardy, the Black Cat, in the 1990s Spider-Man animated series. Talbot received an Emmy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the 1967-1968 season of Hogan's Heroes. She is left-handed.
Talbot began her acting career appearing as a model in the film, It's a Great Feeling in 1949. She was afforded a wealth of varied screen roles from the love-starved switchboard operator in A Very Special Favor (1965) to the brassy Madame Esther in Buck and the Preacher (1972). She then appeared in such films as Montana, This Side of the Law, This Could be the Night, I Married a Woman, Who's Got the Action, The Movie Murderer, The Day of the Locust, Double Take, Serial, The Check Is in the Mail, Take Two and Puppet Master II.
A TV-series perennial, Talbot has been seen as Mabel Spooner opposite Larry Blyden's Joe Spooner in Joe and Mabel (1956), resourceful girl Friday Dora Miles on Hot Off the Wire (aka: The Jim Backus Show) (1960), snooty socialite Judy Evans in Here We Go Again (1973) and ultracyncial Rose in Starting from Scratch (1988). She has been either the star or co-star of several other series, including: Man Against Crime, Bourbon Street Beat, The Secret Storm, andSupertrain while guest starring on several others like: Hogan's Heroes, Soap, Spider-Man, Goodyear Television Playhouse, Robert Montgomery Presents, Studio One, Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer, Maverick, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Rawhide, Daniel Boone, The Monkees, The Debbie Reynolds Show, The Jimmy Stewart Show, Bewitched, The Rockford Files, Mannix, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, All in the Family, Lou Grant, Matt Houston, Trapper John, M.D., Charles in Charge, The John Larroquette Show and Ellen. Nita Talbot was also a familiar face on the daytime-drama scene with long-running roles in Search for Tomorrow and General Hospital.
