From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Athletic Bilbao and Copa del Rey
I have been editing Wikipedia for nearly two years now and have contributed to and/or edited numerous articles, most notably on Spanish football. I pride myself in objectivity and thorough research and would not include inaccurate info in any article I edit.
As you are aware, there is an ongoing dispute at the above articles. The dispute centers around the first Copa del Rey in 1902 and whether it should be included as an Athletic Bilbao win. Myself and another editor User: Deibid believe that it should be. However a third editor User: BarcelonaMarc is constantly reediting the articles to reflect differently. The Copa was won by Club Vizcaya which is not disputed. However Club Vizcaya is not a separate club from Athletic, but rather an alternative name. Several clubs including FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and RCD Espanyol and Real Unión have won the Copa del Rey under different names. All trophies won under their various names are included in one list. So why should the Athletic record be different ?
Below is a timeline which explains the early history of Athletic. [1]
- Early 1890s: Bilbao FC formed by British workers.
- 1898: Basque students returning from UK form Athletic Club.
- 1902: Above two teams enter combined team known as Club Vizcaya in Copa del Rey.
- 1903: These two teams merge and form Athletic Club Bilbao
- 1907: The Club Vizcaya name is revived as Athletic Club de Bilbao and Union Vizcaino entered another combined team in the Copa del Rey.
The 1902 Copa is included in Athletic’s own honours list [2] and the trophy is in their museum [3]. The eleven Club Vizcaya players who played in the final - L. Arana, E Careaga, P. Larranga, L. Silva, A. Arana, Goiri, Cazeaux, Astorquia, W. Dyer, R. Silva, W. Evans - are all included in an archive of former Athletic players [4].
I believe the above clearly shows that Club Vizcaya was simply a name used by Athletic Bilbao and is not a separate club. A similar situation occurred in 1909 when Real Sociedad used the name Club Ciclista. However User: BarcelonaMarc has chosen to ignore all this evidence. He argues that Club Vizcaya is a different club but offers no evidence to prove this. I do not believe BarcelonaMarc is acting objectively or that he can be considered as an independent. On his own user page he describes himself as an FC Barcelona fan. If the 1902 Copa is credited to Athletic then it would mean that Athletic and FC Barcelona share the amount of Copa wins. I believe that BarcelonaMarc must begrudge sharing and that is why he continues to revert edits. I would appreciate it if you could arbitrate or help resolve this issue as it has been ongoing for sometime and BarcelonaMarc will not listen to reason. Djln--Djln 11:49, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Rites of Ash page
Why was the band page Rites_of_Ash deleted? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ritesofash (talk • contribs) 20:50, 2 March 2007 (UTC).
- It was originally decided to be deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rites of Ash. Once this precedence was set, any recreation of the article can be speedy deleted. That's exactly what I did. You can go to Deletion review if you feel the musical group is notable enough to meet WP:MUSIC. Nishkid64 17:27, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Favour required
Hello!
I see that you are online, and require an administrative favour from you. I wish to replace the image used on Adam Air Flight 172 with a better one, but first the old one must be deleted. I have tagged the image for speedy deletion but have been waiting over an hour now and am getting impatiant, as I have multiple windows open and ready to upload the new image as soon as the old is deleted, and they're starting to get in the way. Could you possibly go and delete the image for me so I can replace it now? Thanks in advance, Blood Red Sandman Open Up Your Heart - Receive My EviLove 22:22, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

RFA nomination
Thanks for the support. I'll admit that I've aspired to be an admin and I still do. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be capable of going through the process at least not for a few days or weeks. I guess I am accepting your nomination but I just can't do it this week but I will eventually. If you could contact me sometime after March 12, I'll see if I can go through it then or a little bit later. I'm a bit of a pessimist about my chances of making it but it will be a unique wiki-experience no matter what happens. Gdo01 23:25, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Album notability
You commented in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/DJ Webstar that DJ Webstar is notable. Now I understand that albums of notable artists are notable themselves, but I am in a quandry about Webstar Presents: Young B where he is the producer but not the artist. I am coming accross this as it is related to the whole Dolla Billz mess. Any advice? Agathoclea 16:40, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi there, I noticed on your Userpage for your admin actions such as deletes, protections etc they are portrayed as external links with the little arrow in the top right corner showing, Would you like me to change it so it shows plain links like interwikis and not in the external links format, I'd be happy to do this, please reply on my talk page! Cheers --Tellyaddict 19:28, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- You will notice now on your Contributions Deletions Blocks Protections there is no arrow in the corner, for example instead of linking to the main page like this it now links like this. I hope you understand what I mean . Anyway hope you like it. Happy editing.Tellyaddict 19:39, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi. My signatures subpage may require semi-protection, because it was repeatedly vandalised. As most of the signers are registered, this shouldn't be too much of a problem, and a registered user who sometimes vandalised my pages already signed my book. We've reached a consensus regarding the Taj Mahal RfC and I've amended the article accordingly. Perhaps we should try unprotecting it now and see how it floats? Many thanks. --Joopercoopers 13:45, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Brock Lesnar
Hi regarding that article, well first of all no i am not KurtAngleFan and if you want proof i can upload a picture of me for you. And well i actually can edit the Lesnar page if i want beacuse i have another account, but i created this to refresh things. As i was looking at the page with protections and unprotections, i noticed a request for Lesnar´s article. It was declined but i looked up that information by going to Sherdog.com and the stuff that user said proved to be right when i looked up Lesnar on sherdog. Though i wont be the one editing i think it should be unprotected beacuse of in the state that article is in right now (the lack of activity) it wont be improved to much. That article needs correction soon, the current state of that article is wrongfull and may hurt fans with wrong information. Frank 19:46, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Well considering that you accused me of being another account and threatend to block me i´d rather keep it safe, so im not letting you know my other account, sorry. But the least i can do to show you that i am not hiding anything or so, i can upload a picture of me, maybe you trust me abit more then. But im just asking you to give that article a chance to get improved beacuse it has little activity and as you can see, it needs more activity and improvment soon. Frank 20:36, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- No, I did not accuse you. I said "If you are KurtAngleFan..." I did not know who you were, and you said you had a prior account on your userpage, so I just put that out there in case you are KurtAngleFan. Also, what does the image have to do with anything? That will not help me know who you really are. There's nothing to compare to, so there's no point in doing that. I'm not doing anything for now, and I suggest you contact Yamla (talk • contribs • blocks • protects • deletions • moves • rights) who originally fully protected the page. Thanks, Nishkid64 19:41, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Ok. Well i really appreciate your time buddy. I just feelt it would be easier trying to convince you since you declined it. Could you atleast think about unprotecting it? That article those not have any activity what so ever anyway. Im not saying i will edit it, since i would have done it already if i wanted to, but im just saying that if it gets unprotected it has a better chance of someone bumping into that article to correct and update it, so i really hope you reconsider it. Thanks either way. Frank 21:05, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
DYK question
An editor posted a note on my talk page notifying me of a backlog on DYK. I was considering making the update, however, upon review of the first article listed on next update (Amanita velosa), I find that even though the date listed for its posting is 28 Feb, it was created on 4 Feb and then expanded and cleaned up on 28 Feb.
ISSUE: It was just over 1000 characters on 4 Feb, and now is approximately 2200 characters. Certainly not a significant (5x) expansion.
QUESTION: Should this be removed and marked as ineligible?
— ERcheck (talk) 19:43, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

- I've been checking histories on the other articles in next update. Seems that there have been some discrepancies — likely folks using nomination date rather than creation date. Also, Nagarakretagama may be ineligible as well, being expanded, but not significantly. — ERcheck (talk) 20:07, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for handling the update and replacing the lead article for DYK. — ERcheck (talk) 22:46, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
About adminship
Thanks for your earlier advice about RfA. Pursuant to that advice, I have now become involved in two WikiProjects (Politics and British Royalty), and have made substantial rewrites to the articles on Politics, Left-right politics, Tripartite classification of authority and Afghan hijackers case 2006, adding sources to these (previously unsourced) articles. In the process, I've also chalked up over 3,000 edits in total, and you already know about my efforts in vandal-fighting and XfDs. Do you think I am now approaching suitability for adminship? (Btw I'm sorry to keep bothering you about this.) Walton Vivat Regina! 20:05, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Brock Lesnar
Hey i was contacted by Henry_1986 who saw my unprotection request on the Brock Lesnar article. So i asked him what kind of edit he was going to do, so he sent me the wordpad but i said i was going to ask an admistrator beacuse i wont do it. So here is his requested edit on the page. He said he also performed cleanup as requested with the tag so he deleted that tag. I think its a perfect edit, im sure nobody will dissagree though i decided to let an admistrator accept it first.

Brock Edward Lesnar (born July 12, 1977) is an American mixed martial artist and former amateur wrestler, best known for his professional wrestling career in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He is currently under contract with K-1 Hero's.
Career
Amateur Wrestling
Lesnar finished his amateur career as a four-time all-American, two-time big-ten Champion and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college.
World Wrestling Federation / Entertainment
In Late 2000, Lesnar switched from amateur wrestling to professional wrestling and joined World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE, then WWF), where he went on to win its developmental territory (Ohio Valley Wrestling) tag team championship on three occasions in 2001, with his former college roommate and assistant coach, Shelton Benjamin.
As Lesnar joined the main roster in 2002, he soon earned a shot at the WWE Undisputed Championship after winning the 2002 King of the Ring tournament. He defeated The Rock to become the youngest WWE Champion at 25. He then entered a feud with The Undertaker whom Lesnar defeated inside a Hell in a Cell. Lesnar continued to rise in WWE and showed much potential, becoming a three-time WWE Champion, defeating Kurt Angle twice for the title in 2003. But as Wrestlemania was approaching in 2004, Lesnar made his notice to WWE that he was leaving to pursue a career in the NFL. At Wrestlemania, Lesnar lost to Bill Goldberg in his last WWE match. Lesnar then sidelined his career in WWE to pursue a career in the NFL [2].
National Football League
Lesnar played for the Minnesota Vikings where he created minor fights in some games. He received heat for sacking QB Damon Huard which drew a big response from a crowd of 6,000. Giving hard hits to QBs in scrimmages violates an unwritten understanding, and Huard had to go to the sidelines and sit out a few plays. Lesnar was featured on Sports Center on more than one occasion for his actions. After suffering an injury in the summer of 2004, Lesnar was soon cut from the team and made no attempts to continue his NFL career.
New Japan Pro Wrestling
In 2005, Lesnar joined New Japan Pro Wrestling and won the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Lesnar went on to defend the title against Shinsuke Nakamura, Akebono and Giant Bernard, before being stripped of the title in 2006.
K-1 Hero's / Mixed Martial Arts (present)
On April 28, 2006, Lesnar appeared inside the ring after the final match of K-1 Hero's Las Vegas and has since signed a deal with the K-1/Hero's, which he officially announced on August 12, 2006 [3]. Royce Gracie also announced that he will be taking the role as Lesnar's trainer for his debut in K-1 [4]. Lesnar, who is currently training under Miletich Fighting Systems in Iowa, is set to have his first Mixed martial arts match on May 19, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Personal information
- Lesnar joined the national guard at the age of 17, which he has stated changed his life for the better.
- In January 2001, Lesnar was arrested for receiving a "large amount of steroids". The charges were later dropped when police found that the pills were not actually steroids.[5]
- In May 2001, on a return flight from the United Kingdom, Lesnar got into a shoot fight against Mr. Perfect, who confronted Lesnar over who has the better amateur skills. Lesnar went on to take him down and had to be calmed down by Paul Heyman and Dave Finlay. As a result, Perfect was released from WWE. Perfect was reportedly drunk during the incident.
- Lesnar has one daughter, Mya Lynn who was born on April 10, 2002, with his ex-fiancée, Nicole. He left Nicole in 2003 to begin a relationship with Rena "Sable" Mero. Lesnar and Mero were engaged in 2004, separated in 2005, then reconciled later that year and married on May 6, 2006. Lesnar has 1 step-child with Mero: Mariah, a step-daughter born to Mero and her late husband, Wayne Richardson. They divorced later in August.
- Lesnar has numerous tattoos, with the most prominent being a stylized skull in the center of his back and a large sword on his chest, which he received following his debut in New Japan.
Trivia
- Lesnar broke The Rock's record of being the youngest WWE Champion at age 26 when he defeated him at Summerslam 2002 and became the youngest WWE Champion at age 25. Which also made him the first OVW graduate to win a World Championship in WWE.
- At the end of a SmackDown! house show in Canada in 2003, Lesnar revealed that he had a surprise for the crowd, Rick Martel, coming out to greet the fans. Martel put Lesnar over as a legitimate star by shaking hands with him.
- In 2003 Lesnar was heavily rumored to fight then-reigning boxing champion Lennox Lewis. Marc Ratner, then of the Nevada Athletic Commission, had established rules for a "real" fight. However, Lewis supposedly backed out at the last minute.
- In 2004 Lesnar appeared on the cover of Flex Magazine [6], featuring Lesnar lifting a 300-pound (136 kg) dumbell with one arm. It also made him the second ever wrestler to appear on the magazine, with the first being Triple H.
- The video game Exciting Pro Wrestling 5 is named after Lesnar's catch phrase ("Here Comes The Pain"). The name was taken from Tazz, who usually said "Here Comes the Pain" when Lesnar would be entering the ring. Lesnar is also playable in the PS2 version of the video game Wrestle Kingdom in his New Japan look.
- Lesnar is listed as a free agent in Madden NFL 2006.

I see you have blocked the IP user 209.177.21.6. Your block is here. I think that the Final Warning here was improper as the user only changes a single image, and it clearly wasn't WP:VAND. Vandal strikes again
Hello! I wanted to inform you that User:208.62.155.170, who you blocked twice a few months back for persistent vandalism, has gone on another spree over the past few days and appears to be working his/her way through Roman notables. Some help needed
Hello Nishkid64. As the most recent blocking admin of Emir's, can I please get you to help me with Emir Arven? Myself and this user have had disputes in the past, and both of us have been blocked as a result of personal attacks against each other. Our last dispute was a result of this edit summary. I then calmly started a discussion with the user about why they would falsely accuse me like that, but he just turned hostile straight away. The user then started provoking me some more, and that's when we started an exchange of personal attacks. I was blocked for 72 hrs for personal attacks, and he was blocked for 2 weeks, as he is a repeat offender. After his block expired, things cooled down, and I haven't heard anything from him so far. But, not ten minutes ago, Emir Arven has restarted with his provocative and offensive edits/behaviour (see here, here, and here. I am asking if you or another administrator (or maybe more) could step in, and tell the user to stop falsely accusing, stop provoking, and maybe tell him to read WP:CIVIL and WP:NPA. I would also like all the personal attacks this user has made against me on his talk page and elsewhere be removed, in accordance with Wikipedia policy. Please help, because when I'm in situations like these, I can't help but retaliate, and that would just result in bad results for me. Anyway, help! —KingIvan 11:59, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- Also, please comment here, because this seems to be going nowhere at the moment. Thank you. —KingIvan 06:26, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
JetBlue Airways
I see you've protected JetBlue Airways, citing "heavy vandalism from multiple sources", but I really don't believe that's the case. Please could you explain which edits are vandalism? Thanks! Gerry —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.151.186.50 (talk) 19:36, 8 March 2007 (UTC).
- At the time, I felt protection was needed to deal with the high level of unencyclopedic edits being made to the article. Looking back at it now, I probably would not have protected. I might have been too hasty in my decision then. I have now unprotected the page, a day early. Thanks for pointing that out. :-P Nishkid64 22:43, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed you opposed my RfA and I would like to thank you for being honest, anyway I was wondering if you could please tell me a little bit more about how you think I am not quite their yet? If I remember rightly I voted quickly because I think they were short articles so it did not take long to read them, again I thank you for your honest and because RfA is not over yet, you may add extra comments there or on my talk page, either way I am not bothered, again thanks and happy editing!! Tellyaddict
Hi, as I see your a friend of tellyaddicts, why not give your views on him here? [5]. Thanks. Retiono Virginian 21:50, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
There was little need to oppose him in his RFA. I feel what happened there was shocking, and I'm not pleased. You cannot decline an RFA due to the fact they have a desire to become an admin, wrong, wrong, wrong. He was a good editor who had been here a long time and because this he's even shut down his account, and is now using another one... Retiono Virginian 13:11, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- You're not supposed to canvassing candidates in the first place. So, don't come to me and tell me what I did was wrong. I have my right to oppose, and it's a fair evaluation. I've helped Tellyaddict a number of times with AIV reports, and other cases, and I've found that his judgment is not too great, yet. I believe he still needs time to hone his judgment before going up for RfA. Also, there is no need to start a new account. If he is not so concerned about adminship, he wouldn't have done so. Remember, we're here to build an encyclopedia, not to get adminship. Adminship should have been something that he might have considered down the road when he realized it would be quite helpful when dealing with vandals or closing XfDs. - Retiono Virginian, I kindly asked you not to tell people about my RfA as it gives users the wrong end of the stick. I explained to you that I was not violating WP:SOCK because I said on my userpage that I will not be participating in debates in which I voted on as Tellyaddict. Regards - Aquasplash (Talk) 17:43, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
I do have one concern though, what he has done is pratically sockpuppetry. Retiono Virginian 17:21, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
-
- He's not violating any part of WP:SOCK. If he had, I'm sure someone would have already blocked his other account. If he uses Tellyaddict and Aquasplash on the same XfD, for example, then that would be a violation of WP:SOCK. Anyway, I'm trying to get him to reconsider his hasty decision to start over new. My recent RfA
Hi there, under no circumstances am I blaming you for me leaving my old account, I explained to Retiono Virginian that I was not commiting sock puppetry as I will not be voting in deletion/discussion debates in which I did as Telyaddict, I think Retionon Virginian was out of order by blaming you and he exaggerated it a little, I have not "abandoned the account" (well I have in some ways) but I'm just registering a new account so I can start fresh, a user who gave an example of how he did not trust my judgement brought up the fact that I refused to view an image on IFD because it was going to be rude, I could tell this by the name and the fact I had seen several images listed there that day, I am just starting a new account so I can start fresh and I'm looking forward to it! Just so you know, I did ask Retiono Virigan not to tell people about my RfA as its seen as "advertising your request". Anyway I still believe RV was out of order and that you have the right to your opinion, I'll still be here regularly and you will see me around, I'm just under an new username. Again - its fine and I hold you or no-one who voiced their opinion on my RfA responsible, I was a little to eager for adminship. Regards - Aquasplash (Talk) 17:40, 10 March 2007 (UTC) (A.K.A Tellyaddict

- You know, after thought about this you have made me realise that I was just being silly by doing this, I'm going back to my old username and I'm going to address the issus raised there, instead of just creating a new account and unnecessarily starting from fresh, could you please unprotect my User page and User talk Page as I'm changing it back, I would like to thank you for bringing me to my sense about the new accounts, I'm going to contact all of the opposers and address their concerns in more detail and thank them. This is for sure, again thank you!!! Tellyaddict 17:54, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

-
- Yes, please do but could you state in the reason that I have not done anything wrong because if there was ever a checkuser run on me some users may see that it got blocked and got the wrong end of the stick, I'm glad your supporting me, my decision was too hasty and quick, as mentioned above I'm going to address the concerns of other users instead of just ignoring it and creating a new account. Thanks!! Tellyaddict 18:02, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for unprotecting my talk and user page, I'm going to add a banner at the top explaining the circumstances, there are a few things in which I am kindly asking you to restore in which I requested deletion.

Ivan
I didn't provoke him. When I noticed that he repeated his behaviour despite the fact that he was warned and dispite the fact that his second account was blocked, I just said this sentence: [6] rv Ivan if you continue to do this, I will report you!. That is the only sentence that I said. After that, he reported me, based on lies and my past conflict with him, but he didn't mention his sockpuppet past and he didn't mention the warning he received by other administrator. So I explained that. That is all. I was very carefully this time, I didn't breake any rule, and you should warn him and block him for earlier insults he said to me. Reverts by Ivan
I want also to inform you that Ivan keeps reverting other people's edits, not mine (I didn't even put the sock-puppet template on his user-IP pages, so he was reported by others, and I didn't want to report him once again, when I saw that user Khokhoi put those tags):
I also want to say that Ivan's second account was blocked indefinitely and he was strongly warned by AnonEMouse. Ivan Kricancic - sock puppet. Ivan had second account which he created in order to nominate Bosniak-related pictures for deletion providing false information about the authors. He is an ethnic Croat, so he created the second account presenting himself to be an ethnic Bosniak who doesn't speak Bosnian, because he is from Australia. According to his user page (original user page) he hates Bosniaks, and makes funny of them. So his "ethnic Bosniak" account was blocked and he was warned. But he keeps asking for help from you?! As I said this time I didn't break any rule, and he did. But he was not blocked. Emir Arven 19:33, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
RFCU
I reported him according to your advice. Can you just check did I make this request correctly and according to the rules: [11]. Emir Arven 19:52, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
My RfA
Thank you for your comments on my my recent RfA in which I withdrew because the oppose votes were almost equalling the supporters. I then decided to leave my account (Tellyaddict) and start fresh under a new username, however I quickly decided to reconsider after another user persuaded me not to leave the account - I am now glad I did reconsider because leaving that account and creating a new one was too hasty so I've decided to improve rather than starting again! I hope we can remain civil and that there were no negative feelings caused. Again, thanks for your support even though you opposed and I withdrew it, your vote is much appreciated! Fair use rationale for Image:34422.jpg
Image:34422.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
