Nissan Pavilion at Stone Ridge or Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, VA, is an outdoor live performance amphitheatre with a 25,000 fan capacity, the largest in the Washington Metropolitan area. The Pavilion is located in semi-rural Prince William County which is approximately 35 miles west of Washington, DC. Opened in 1995, the first group to perform at Nissan Pavilion was The Village People. Since then, the Pavilion has played host to a wide range of musical acts every summer, including Tina Turner, Radiohead, Coldplay, Celine Dion, Rush, James Taylor, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Nine Inch Nails, Aerosmith, Godsmack, 311, Linkin Park, Poison, Sting, KISS, Ted Nugent, Steely Dan, Toby Keith, Def Leppard, The Who, Roger Waters of Pink Floyd, the Vans Warped Tour and Ozzfest. Since 1995, The Allman Brothers Band, Brooks & Dunn, Jimmy Buffett, and Dave Matthews Band have played annually. Nissan Pavilion also annually holds WMZQfest in May.

Aside from musical acts, high schools from Prince William County and Fauquier County hold their graduation ceremonies at Nissan Pavilion in June.

Democratic Party Senator Barack Obama kicks off his 2008 Presidential campaign with a rally on June 05, 2008 [1].

The venue is owned and operated by Live Nation.

[edit] Parking and Transportation

Roads to and from the venue are insufficient and traffic jams are difficult to avoid. Many concert goers have missed shows due to hours spent in traffic caused by unresponsive facility management. A May 11th Radiohead performance is one example of thousands of ticket holders being unable to enter due to poor planning by venue management [2]. Parking at Nissan Pavilion has drawn criticism from many concert goers. It is not uncommon to spend 2 hours or more trapped in the parking lot because of the insufficient roads and poor parking lot design [3].
