[edit] CloseUp1 Contest 2006
Although Nishita impressed the grand-jury of CloseUp1, she did not get enough text-message votes from the spectators and thus ended up with a runners-up position in the contest among the 52000 other competitors, with Salma Akhter getting first place. However, because of her unique style and powerful vocals, Nishita continues to be a popular icon in the rapidly growing Bangladeshi music industry.
