Nishio Tadamitsu

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nishio Tadamitsu (西尾忠需 Nishio Tadamitsu?) (1716-July 22, 1789) was a Japanese daimyo of the mid to late-Edo period, who ruled the Yokosuka Domain. He was the 2nd son of Kyōgoku Takamochi, lord of the Marugame Domain in Sanuki Province. As he was also the nephew of Nishio Tadanao, the heirless Tadanao adopted him in 1729. In 1731, he received the title of Mondo no Shō (主水正) along with junior 5th court rank, lower grade (ju go i no ge 従五位下). Tadamitsu succeeded the family headship in 1760, on Tadanao's death, and was appointed sōshaban (master of ceremonies) in the Tokugawa administration. He retired in 1782, and was succeeded by his son Tadayuki.

Tadamitsu died in Edo in 1789, at age 74.
