[edit] Christian anarchism

Thanks for rewording the statements I made about Day and Maurin, you put it perfectly.

No worries. I have just made another word change, which will hopefully even further improve it. Let us know if you don't agree. --nirvana2013 16:56, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Society of Ethical and Religious Vegetarians

Why did you remove the link to their Web page? --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 17:40, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

I wonder if you could answer before deleting my question? --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 11:58, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
The external link that you are referring to (which, just for the record, I added in the first place) I had already added in the main body text. If you feel that the two links are required, I am very happy with your decision. More links the better, as far as I am concerned, they are a good organisation.

The correct place is at the end, in an external links section; thanks for alerting me to the duplication. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 12:52, 13 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Celestine Prophecy

Why do you want the image to be so big? The point of a thumb is that it's samll (and thus quick & easy to load) but can be enlarged at will; that's why we use them. Also, the large version overbalances the article. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 16:53, 13 July 2005 (UTC)

The reason was so the viewer could read the text on the front cover. nirvana2013
Fair enough — but as I said, that's what the thumb option allows. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 13:56, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Kingdomofgod.jpg

I have changed the copyright tag from your text "Public Domain" to {{bookcover}} as it is the cover of a book. If you could source why it is public domain you could change it back... gren グレン 09:57, 7 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Anti-war

From your user page and edit history I thought you might be interested in joining the new wikiproject; WikiProject Anti-war. As you no doubt know, anti-war movments and ideas have had a massive influence on world politics esspecially since the launch of the "war on terror" and the global reaction to it. Events like the Febuary 15th biggest ever global day of demo's are historic in and of themselves and well deserving of more attention then the currently recive on wikipedia. Also the project will aim to get rid of any redundent repeted information through unifiy the different anti-war pages. Hopefully we can achive ballance and NPOV. Hope you chouse to become involved. --JK the unwise 15:29, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Mahatma Gandhi

Hello,

I would like to clarify my point of view on my edits to the Gandhi article which you questioned here.

"God": this is the John Lennon problem, isn't it?

My intention was to describe Gandhi's iconic status in India as almost "God-like" and not to say that Indians consider him to be a God. There are some people who dominate a particular industry or part of society so strongly as to be almost God-like an icon. Still, if you don't see eye-to-eye on this one, it doesn't matter. I don't intend to re-visit the revert.

There is some edit that Gurubrahma questioned, but the link is faulty or something. I don't know what that is.

Most of my info comes from the information-rich biography of Sardar Patel by Rajmohan Gandhi, which goes into Gandhi himself deeply. This is a well-accredited book by the Navjivan Book Trust.

We suffer in this article from a desire to put too much information in. It gets confusing. That whole discussion page is full of crap about Gandhi being a racist and a pervert. This is coming from that controversial book by Stanley Wolpert, and really is not a good source to put quotes and material in the article with.

Folks like Gurubrahma and others have criticized some of my edits, and that's fine. But I discourage unilateral reverts without a proper time given to discuss the edits. There is one fellow who spoke insultingly of my work, and while I acknowledge my own faults, I won't give a quarter when somebody makes it personal.

Thank you.

Nirav Maurya

Nirav, I am glad to hear that Indians do not consider Gandhi a God. It would be most unGandhi-like to worship him and his words of wisdom as God-like. As Gandhi said anyone can follow the principles of truth and nonviolence, if they want to. --nirvana2013 16:30, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
Yes, I'm sure he'd see it your way. I personally consider him to be the 10th Avatara of Vishnu, but that's another story....I'd like to have your opinions and help on an article I'm constructing on Indian Nationalism. This is a big project, much different from just the independence struggle. I need folks like you to add more stuff there. Check it out if you can. Regards, Nirav.

An Award
This award fits u to a tee for the coolness you displayed in the deft handling of a difficult-to-handle user with a "holier than thou attitude" on Talk:Mahatma Gandhi and Talk:Gandhism apart from other places.--Feeling the force, Gurubrahma 18:20, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Truth

Please stop adding theories of truth, such as the one below, to truth:

Truth is a statement proven to be or accepted as true, and which conforms to fact or reality.

Let's hash this out here, rather than having an edit war. Here's what's wrong with this particular addition:

  1. It is a particular theory of truth (and, actually, it conflicts with the other theory of truth you added to the introduction). No one theory gets to be privileged that way.
  2. It is a circular definition (truth conforms to fact; what's a fact?)
  3. Truth is not a statement.
  4. etc.

-Seth Mahoney 23:00, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

Please refer to [1] and [2]. P.S. Should we not have this discussion on the specific talk page for the article, so other users can refer or make comment? --nirvana2013 23:10, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
I've moved the comments there. Please leave Truth as it was until this is resolved. (Actually, add or change other sections, but leave the intro definition out for now - your stuff on bearers of truth is good.) -Seth Mahoney 00:00, 24 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Problems with a user

Hi Nirvana2013, I'm writing to you as I'm unable to sort out problems with a particular user who has been editing with anon IPs in the series 70.X.X.X and claims to be Nirav.maurya on some talkpages and anon on other pages. While the style of edits is similar to that of the said user, I canot be 100% sure. Under the anon IP, he has made attacks on Talk:Purushottam Das Tandon and NPOV-tagged it. I don't have any problems with anyone tagging something as NPOV as long as they spell out the reasons clearly. Now-a-days, the edits of this IP are not so much of a POV issue but more of an original research issue. Substantial (in terms of quantity) additions have been made to articles or new articles created such as Indian Muslim Nationalism, Indian nationalism, Hindu nationalism and Hindutva. I neither have the time nor the energy to go through all of them - though I have been involved with him on Gandhism, Mahatma Gandhi and Indian nationalism. While I do not mind fending off the attacks he makes on the articles I regularly edit, my primary purpose, as I perceive it, is not that. I thought you may be interested in giving it a look and hence this long-ish message. His comments on Talk:Purushottam Das Tandon or my user talkpage may be a good place to start. --Gurubrahma 06:04, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Gandhi Edits

Hello Nirvana,

I'm Rama's Arrow, Nirav Maurya. I'd like to know if you support the creation of two sub-articles which I just undertook. I was frustrated as there was no response to my debate proposals over two days, so I just did it.

[edit] Reply to Gandhi Edits Q

Hello Nirvana,

No there is no intended edit war. Modern Criticism is in the Leadership article. User:Rama's Arrow

I think it should be in the main article, as it criticises more than just his leadership, even if the criticism is by two magicians who make a living from hiding the truth. Bullshit!, a rather apt title to their show. --nirvana2013 14:28, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
I just think that the criticism should accompany the page where the details to be criticized are. I disagree that the Bullshit! addition is a good one, becoz this is an encylopedia where people will tend to take things literally, especially as many do not know Penn/Teller.

If you respond to any of my comments, please do so on my talk page coz I don't regularly visit other users, which means if they reply, I may never see it.

Jai Sri Rama! - User:Rama's Arrow

[edit] Gandhi Vandalism Watch

Hello again, I ask you to keep an eye on the Gandhi article. There were two major vandalism attempts made. I don't know how to request protection from vandalism, so I need your help. Thanks, - User: Rama's Arrow

[edit] Response to Post

I detect a "possible" problem with the tone: I never deleted the Bullshit! reference nor had any devious purpose in mind. My objection was based on the need for pure facts and not too much speculation on the article. If you wanna continue with the reference, or put modern criticism on the main bio, I don't have any problems.

I must point out a problem with your reasoning: if Bullshit! is indeed worthy of the article, any smooth-writing vandal can stick up any comment as a way to criticize him. Anywayz... - User:Rama's Arrow

[edit] Confusion in Communication and POV

My dear fellow, your two latter paras on my talk page were completely needless. I'm in complete agreement with what points you were making.

Your Jesus and man's imperfection comment are loaded with POV. First off, this is all POV to begin with. Its a saying and even though largely correct, an unproven saying. Secondly, there are 1 billion people who believe Jesus was more than just a man. Wikipedia must allow for that POV to make a proper N-POV.

Let me point out where there is a difference in wavelength: I wanted the criticism section posted on the leadership page as most of the points of criticism were relevant to issues of his political leadership. You "seemed" to believe I didn't want the page, and later did not want it central.

The Bullshit point was it was already a flawed opinion, so why should Wikipedia post a flawed opinion from Bullshit? There are more candid areas of criticism, such as from Savarkar, Bose, Churchill etc.

CORE: I don't know what it is, but there is a problem in wavelength. These are small issues, but you seem to misunderstand my positions.

Anywayz forget it...Good luck on other work. Jai Sri Rama! User:Rama's Arrow

Nirav, I agree my comments on Jesus are POV that's why I communicated them on your talk page rather than forcing them into the Jesus article. That is my point of view, nothing more. --nirvana2013 16:25, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia Anti-war project, push to get a featured article b4 Xmass

February 15, 2003 anti-war protest, an article which is part of the WikiProject Anti-war, of which you are listed as a member, has been recently rated A-class by the Version 1.0 Editorial team (see here) This means that it is considered to be of good quality. The Anti-war project has yet to achieve a featured article but with a little pushing I feel we could get this article up to FA standards. To this end I have put the article up for peer review, if you could help make this a brilliant article that would be much appreciated. Please give your comments at Wikipedia:Peer review/February 15, 2003 anti-war protest/archive2 or on the articles talk page. Fingers crossed for a FA before Xmass.--JK the unwise 12:58, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Income tax is not "direct"

A direct tax is one that is imposed on an individual or his property irrespective of events or circumstances; an indirect tax is imposed on the occurrence of an event. Although some courts and commentators have confused the concepts that underlie this distinction, income taxes are only ever imposed on the occurrence of an event - the receipt of income, and hence are not direct. Cheers! BD2412 T 15:51, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

  • Strike that - I'm going to research the issue more thoroughly, but leave it at just "tax" for now, as there are differing opinions. BD2412 T 15:54, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

February 15, 2003 anti-war protest an article from the WikiProject Anti-war, which you are listed as a member of, has been nominated for the Article Improvement Drive (by me ).

[edit] Credit card debt

Hi, I was just wondering why you deleted the sentence from "Credit Card Debt" that said "It is the interest on this debt that enables the credit card companies to make a profit." Was it because it was POV? I included it in a modified form of the previous versions ("Credit cards not used wisely can create a lot of problems since credit card companies main source of profits is from people who are late in their payments i.e why some people compare credit card companies to loansharks") because it is a fairly important thing to say: it explains why the companies wanted legislation that encouraged debtors to pay off the debt instead of declaring bankruptcy, which is what a lot of the rest of the article is about. Not trying to start a fight or even necessarily contesting the removal; just curious. By the way, thank you for finding some statistics and removing the cleanup tag! Sophy's Duckling 03:06, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

I just reread the article, and it seems that you might also have removed it because it did not flow in the introduction. Do you think it would be a good idea to add it to the "political aspects" section to explain possible motivations for the companies' attempts to influence legislation? [edit] Request for edit summary

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 13% for major edits and 57% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 150 minor edits in the article namespace.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 13:32, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 14:20, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
