Prof. Niranjan Swarup graduated as a Civil Engineer in 1st class from Regional Engineering College, Rourkela, Orissa in 1987. Starting his career as a Design Engineer, he served in various capacities, in number of prestigious organizations, involved in offering technical consultancy, construction industry projects, Real Estate & housing as well as overseas trade.
He was responsible for designing and execution of several projects in various construction sectors. In the later part of his career, Mr. Swarup served as senior level positions within the industry and has expertise in co-ordination, design & development, fund resource mobilization and project evaluation etc.
He has handled several major projects like EPCE for KOL Dam Project, LNG Receiving & Degasification Terminal at Dahej, Construction of Dam & Part Head race tunnel for Dhauliganga Hydroelectric Power Project, Structural Design of U.S. Embassy at Yangoon Myanmar, Air supported structures for GAIL, Induced draft, Cooling Towers for Combined Cycle Power Project for NEEPCO etc.
He is currently the Board Member of various professional bodies like Engineering Council of India (ECI), International Council of Consultants (ICC) & The Council for Application of Actuarial Science in Risk Management in Construction and Allied Industries (CARM)
He was working as the Chief of Business Development, Daewoo Engineering & Construction, India Office prior to joining Indian Society for Trenchless Technology.
He joined the Indian Society for Trenchless Technology in 2002 as the Executive Director and has been responsible for popularizing the Trenchless Technology in India.
The body is promoted by Ministry of Urban Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Govt. of India.
He is involved in Co-ordination between equipment manufacturers, construction agencies and various civic authorities. The beneficiaries of this technology are municipal bodies, telephone departments, water and electricity supply departments etc. that ultimately goes to the public. He actively participates in several social organizations to uplift the quality of life of fellow citizens.
His primary roles are to oversee Indian Society for Trenchless Technology affairs, including organization of Workshops / Seminars, regular administrative matters, member interaction etc.
