From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Hinduism, Nirṛta is a fearsome and malevolent god, the masculine aspect of Nirṛti. He was eventually subsumed into her identity. The correct Sanskrit pronunciation is "ni−rṛ−ta" as 3 syllables; the "" serves as a vowel. The name is derived from "nir−ṛta" = "no-law" = "lacking sacred law and order".
