Nirmala Bhavan English High school started in 1964,is conducted by the sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament(S.A.B.S).This religious congregation was founded in 1908 by the first Bishop of Changanacherry,Mar Thomas Kurialachery.

The school is minority institution recognized as such by the Government of Kerala.It is an un aided English medium School and prepares students for the ten year Secondary School Leaving certificate(S.S.L.C)examination of the Kerala State Educational Board and two years Higher Secondary examination course of Higher Secondary Education Directorate.Its aims at giving an all round education,liberal and academical,and also physical moral and spiritual,to all children irrespective of caste or creed.Thus it assists in the integral formation of each individual,helping him or her to fulfill his or her role in the family and society.

For the first time in Kerala, Nirmala Bhavan HSS, following state syllabus, is equipped with SMART CLASS facilities to empower teachers with technology right inside the class rooms. The program enables to use digital resources such as graphics, animations, 3D images and video clips in addition to the chalk and talk method of teaching in their day to day teaching life. This result in a completely new multi sensory learning experience for students and help them to improve their academic performance. It is a concept of Computer enabled education connected all class rooms with Ethernet network and governed by a Knowledge Center within the school campus. The knowledge center is equipped with a library of digital resources mapped to the school syllabus. This technology improves academic performance of students and makes learning an enjoyable experience. It also improves teachers effectiveness and productivity.

This program was inaugurated in the school by the Honorable minister for Education, Shri M.A. Baby in June 2006.
