As of 2001 India census,[2] Nirmal had a population of 75,017. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Nirmal has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 56%. In Nirmal, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

This art form named after its place of origin, Nirmal in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh.

Nirmal is connected by road to Kalyan in Maharashtra by National Highway 222 (India). The place can be reached from Hyderabad by travelling in the A.P.S.R.T.C buses on the National Highway No. 7.
