Nippō Main Line

The Nippō Main Line (日豊本線 Nippō-honsen?) is a railway line on Kyūshū, in southern Japan. Part of the Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) system, it follows the east coast of the island. The line originates at Kokura Station in Kokura, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka. It passes through the prefectural capitals of Ōita and Miyazaki before arriving at the southern terminal of Kagoshima Station in Kagoshima.

On September 17, 2006 at 2:05 p.m., the Nichirin Number 9 train on the Nippo Line derailed near Minami Nobeoka Station, causing some injuries.
