Nioro du Sahel Cercle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nioro Cercle is an administrative subdivision of the Kayes Region of Mali. Its seat is the city of Nioro du Sahel, which is also its largest city. The Cercle is further divided into Arrondissements and Communes. Nioro Cercle's population as of 1998 was 253,984 people.[1]
The area abuts the Sahara desert to the north, and Nioro has long been a major stop on the Trans-Saharan trade.
